Saturday

Saturday is my favourite day. By far. not only is it my only day off (bar Tuesday this trimester-which I never manage to count as a day off) it's also almost always overcast coming into winter, leaving time for kitten snuggling after the massive 3pm breakfast just consumed.

Not saying I got up at 2. I go to the markets on Saturdays-I got up at midday.

I'll interrupt more aimless musings with a photo or two:

Grem stole my heart
this is Polo, the biggest and neediest

Apparently my partner and I celebrated our anniversary yesterday. It could be today though or a few days ago... How laidback can you be I wonder until it's deemed as just not caring...
I love the lack of expectations in our relationship. live each day without expectations dragging you down

So Fast Eddies is a sweet place for a 21st.
I came home from Hannah's wee shindig last night to find Tawera watching Heat.
That's the first time my ass got sore watching a movie at home...
happy anniversary baby.

recipe for the day:

Hash browns
Ingredients:

  • 400g potatoes, peeled
  • 1 small onion, grated (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbs snipped fresh chives or parsley (optional)
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method:

Preheat oven to 150°C. Place the potatoes in a large saucepan, bring to the boil and cook for 10 minutes. Drain well and set aside to cool. Pat dry with paper towel and coarsely grate into a large bowl (I use my food processor for this).
Stir in onion (if using), egg, chives or parsley (if using) and season with salt and pepper. When combined, divide mixture into eight portions and shape into patties.
Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add 2-3 hash browns to the pan and cook without turning for about 6 minutes or until golden and crispy on the bottom.
Use a spatula to carefully turn the hash browns and cook until golden brown and crispy. Transfer cooked hash browns to a baking tray and keep warm in the oven while you cook the rest.

and sushi for dinner!
noms.
